Director - Teacher

Music has always been part of my life: as a child singing with my mum while washing the dishes, thereafter choir, solo singing, performing in musicals, setting up a choir, taking voice and instrument lessons, and playing in an orchestra.

After finishing teacher training college I worked as a classroom teacher in Primary, Secondary and Special Education. After fourteen years of teaching I swapped The Netherlands for Bangladesh to work as a Special Education Adviser.

In 1998, I went
to the Middle East where I worked at both local and international  schools. There I met a colleague who taught music to young children in such a fascinating way that I immediately knew: "This is what I want to do as well."

From then on, I focused on Music Education specialized in Early Years. I set up my own Music Institute, first in Saudi Arabia, and later in Bahrain. In order to expand my teaching programme I took Kodály training in the UK which proved very inspiring and extremely useful.

In the meantime I had heard about Music Together and got really enthusiastic about it. Soon it became clear to me that this was something I wanted to add to my teaching programme. I took a teaching workshop in the USA and became a registered Music Together teacher. Soon thereafter, in March 2008, DingDong Belgium was born.

Having grown up in a musical family music as an activity was such a natural thing that I chose the violin as my daily friend at the age of seven.

My music education began at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art in Vilnius. After finishing school, I studied for six years at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy and obtained two Master’s degrees, one qualifying me as a music performer and the other as a violin teacher.

In 2006, I moved to Brussels where I was granted the opportunity to improve my knowledge and skills at the Royale Conservatory of Brussels. In June 2007, I  graduated from the conservatory and became involved in symphony and chamber orchestras, and music ensembles all around Belgium.

My experience as a teacher grew in 2008, when I started working as a violin teacher at the British School of Brussels. After meeting Mariëtte Jansen and attending her DingDong classes, I realized that the Music Together programme brings children into the world of music very naturally. I decided to join in with my own children and, as of January 2012, will be teaching DingDong classes which are always full of joy and laughter, and open little hearts.
